Dr. Martin Gölles, DLA is a Hungarian conductor, music teacher, and composer. He is assistant professor at the Béla Bartók Faculty of Arts of the University of Szeged, as well as conductor and artistic director of the Szeged Guitar Orchestra.
Born in 1994 in Nagykanizsa, Hungary, he began his musical studies at the age of eight as a piano student at the Ferenc Farkas Music School. He graduated from the Batthyány Lajos Grammar School before continuing his studies at the Faculty of Arts of the University of Pécs, where he earned a Bachelor's degree in Music (2015), a Master's degree in Choral Conducting (2017), and a Master's degree in Music Teaching (2020). His principal teachers included prof. dr. Tamás Lakner, prof. dr. Salamon Kamp, Attila Kertész, Aurél Tillai, László Kircsi, and Balázs Kocsár. In 2023 he joined the CoSyMa Conducting Mentorship Programme in Budapest under the direction of Zsolt Hamar. He received his Doctor of Liberal Arts (DLA) degree with summa cum laude distinction in 2026 under the supervision of prof. dr. Tamás Lakner.
As a composer, his catalogue includes both vocal and instrumental works, his compositions are performed regularly in Hungary and abroad. He maintains a close artistic collaboration with the Swiss chamber ensemble Quintette Bourgogne, for which he has composed numerous works, including pieces written for the Jeudis Musicaux concert series in Neuchâtel. He has also written works for numerous choirs and ensembles, including the Virág Benedek Choir and the Mixed Choir of Nagykanizsa, the Bartók Béla Male Choir, the Mecsek Choir, the Fermata Mixed Choir, the Zsolnay Wind Orchestra (Pécs), the Liszt Ferenc Choral Society (Veszprém), the Vox Mirabilis Chamber Choir of Székesfehérvár, the Internationale Chorakademie Lübeck (Germany), the Caecilia Choir (Colombier, Switzerland), the Neuchâtel Wind Orchestra (Switzerland), the Hautevoix Choir (Dijon, France), and the Coro Masculino Kodály Zoltán (Buenos Aires, Argentina). His compositions are published independently under the imprint Gölles Edition.
As a member of the University of Pécs Choir and the Bartók Béla Male Choir, he has performed in Hungary, Belgium, Croatia, Slovakia, China, Latvia, Italy, and Argentina. Between 2013 and 2024 he served as assistant conductor and piano accompanist of the Virág Benedek Youth Mixed Choir in Nagykanizsa. Since 2015 he has also been the cantor of the Lutheran Church in Szepetnek.

2020 – Prizewinner of the MÜPA Palace of Arts Budapest Composition Competition (The Four-Ox Cart, a choral work based on a poem by Sándor Petőfi)
